As graduate students we were charged with proposing a curriculum direction for OSU's Design Department moving forward into the conversion from quarters to semesters. The Design Department wanted to use this opportunity to reinvent itself. We researched top design universities, the future of design firms, as well as the Department faculty and students' wishes for the curriculum. My role was to research the students' ideas and bring them to a team of five colleagues that would be proposing the new curriculum direction.
This is an overview of the courses that a student would take in his four years in the Design Department. Each color represents a different focus: research, technology, professional practice, sustainability, theory, and cross-disciplinarity.
